This 5K is a sacred event held in remembrance of the brave souls we’ve lost to PTSD. This memorial is more than a place—it’s a promise that these heroes will never be forgotten. 

This was performed at the Forgotten Warrior Memorial at Channahon State Park, IL, where we gathered not just to remember, but to honor the brave men and women who fought valiantly for our freedom—and who, in their final battle, lost to the silent struggle of PTSD. 

K9s for Veterans is a nonprofit organization that is deeply close to my heart. They provide service dogs to veterans and first responders living with PTSD, traumatic brain injuries (TBI), and military sexual trauma (MST). Their mission goes beyond pairing trained rescue dogs with those in need—they also provide free food and basic medical care for each dog’s entire lifetime.

 On my healing journey, I discovered a beautiful lullaby that resonated deeply with me. In May 2024, I had the honor of performing Sleepsong, with my sweet Mama accompanying me as the pianist.

Mama, thank you for every hour, every note, and for your endless patience. I love you to the moon and beyond—forever and ever!

This event serves as a vital moment for our community to come together in support of our veterans and to honor the families of those who have tragically lost their lives to PTSD and suicide.
